The historic speech of Shakespeare's Brutus and Antony show modern readers the incredible power of persuasion through clear diction and flowing lyricism. 

Brutus and Antony must work to protect themselves against the wrath of the people after slaying the leader. Brutus does this by decrying Caesar as too "ambitious," and plays on the weakness of the everyday man by asking the crowd to refute him individually should he be wrong. Antony at first seems to rebuke Brutus but then builds into a frenzy of supporting Caesar and persuading the crowd that this is what was best for Rome. 

Both of their speeches are entirely persuasive. Persuasion plays an important role as it is the method of delivery for their salvation.
