HELP :) 2. Why is it important to know a protein's amino acid sequence?
Different protein acids can build different proteins. Different proteins with different structures have different functions. For example, in genetics, CAG repeats can cause Huntington's disease. In this case, it is crucial to know the sequence of CAG.
what is CAG ?
Glutamin.
can u give me one more reason ? thanks :)
For example, when an immature sequence of protein is synthesized after translation, the protein needs a specific amino acid sequence to act as a messenger to direct where to go in the post transcriptional modification process. And for example, if a signal recognition particle (off course built in specific amino acid sequence) is added to the newly synthesized protein, the protein will be directed to ER.
thanks a lot :DD
