Why is the derivative of (v^2)/(c^2) = 2v/c^2? I've tried to work it out with the quotient rule, but I can't seem to make it work.

You're differentiating with respect to v here, c^2 is just a constant. So just as you would differentiate: v^2/2 to 2v/2 you differentiate (v^2)/(c^2) to 2v/c^2
