what are some causes and effects of Rome's expanding empire?
Rome was centered in a highly advantageous place for trade between northern Africa, the Middle East, and Asia Minor. This advantage led to a diversity of culture, resources from all over the known world, and wealth. In particular, Rome's expansion via it's military conquests were fueled by implementing tight tactical formations using intensely disciplined legionnaires. The effects of these initial advantages and conquests led to the development of a new culture: that of the Roman Republic. This cultural spirit heightened the morale of the nation and led to Rome's golden age. All of Rome's expansion led to a great deal of things, but mainly the westernization of the territories they conquered. Western thought was further refined by the Romans and bred into the culture of their conquered territories. This western influence was rooted in everything from architecture, politics and legislation, the military, and education.
