Can someone help?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

when is tangent positive

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Huh?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

alright so it says that Sin is positive correct. Sin coordinates with the y values of the unit circle so you know that it must be in Quadrants I and II

OpenStudy (anonymous):

now the second thing says tangent is positive, can you look at your unit circle and see when tangent is positive?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Im not even sure. This is all new to me. lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do you have a unit circle with you?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Nuhuh

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but i can google one

OpenStudy (anonymous):

there is your unit circle , where (x,y)=(cos(theta),sin(theta)) so say for pi/6, you can see that cosine = sqrt(3)/2 and sin = 1/2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

now what is tangent in terms of x and y

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I honestly have no clue, i dont understand. :/

OpenStudy (anonymous):

all are positive in 1st quadrant so ans of 1st question will be 1.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

value of cosx will be 3/5. I can explain also.
