explain how values for the mean and median are knows without performing any calculations

Parth (parthkohli):

When we are given a finite arithmetic sequence, we can just see the middle number and that'd be BOTH mean and median.

Parth (parthkohli):

Otherwise, it is not possible to do so. At least, we can check the median of a finite set with odd number of elements.

I'm learning.... Still trying to understand Thank you

Parth (parthkohli):

You're welcome.

OpenStudy (callisto):

Mean => average of the set of number = sum of number / number of data. Median => middle number of the set of number (arrange in either ascending order or descending order) (i) if the number of data is odd => find the middle one (ii) of the number of data is even => find the average of the middle ones.

OpenStudy (callisto):

*(ii) if

Parth (parthkohli):

@Callisto You are certainly correct, but in (ii), it certainly requires calculation to calculate the Mean of the middle numbers.

OpenStudy (callisto):

Yes, I can't deny that, but that's not mean of the set of data already.. Unless there are only 2 data in the set of data .
