A factor of factors of 6x3 + 6 is x + 1?

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

use the factor theorem if\[ P(x) = 6x^3 + 6 \] then find P(-1) if P(-1) = 0 then x + 1 is a factor

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I like that factor theorem. Or you could divide using long division or synthetic division to see if x+1 divides into 6x^3+6 evenly (no remainder.) If so, it's a factor.

OpenStudy (theviper):

@campbell_st took P(-1) becoz he put this value at the place of x then P(-1)=0. so x=-1 =>x+1 is a factor.

OpenStudy (theviper):

got it?

Yes, I got it. Thanks.
