Find a formula for the general term a_n of the sequence: {-3, 2, -4/3, 8/9, -16/27} I would like a hint please.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

first put them all in fraction form, do you notice any pattern?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i mean for -3 and 2 :s

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is there sth. wrong with the last one? 16/27 i guess that's supposed to be negetive

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea i think so

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea~ then it can be solved~ something times (-3) equals 2~ @nphuongsun93 's hint it right~

OpenStudy (anonymous):

{-3, 2, -4/3, 8/9, -16/27} was what I meant.

@JamesJ @satellite73 @TuringTest @dpaInc @Hero @experimentX @eliassaab @ParthKohli

OpenStudy (experimentx):

each term is multiplied by -2/3

OpenStudy (experimentx):

so it's a geometric series ... with first term -3 and common ratio -2/3 rest you know.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

WOW.
