OpenStudy (hy123):

log(sub)9 81

OpenStudy (hy123):

\[\log_{9} 81\]

OpenStudy (hy123):

Do you mind explaining or showing me how to do this?

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

\[\huge \log_9 81 \implies \log_9 (9^2)\] does that help?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\huge Log_{9}81=Log_{9}9^2=2Log_{9}9=2\times1=2\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\huge \color{red}{Log_aa^2 = 2 \times 1 = 2}\]

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

or simply \[\huge \log_a a^b = b \quad \ddot \smile\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a=9 here..

OpenStudy (hy123):

Evaluate is to simplify?

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

yep :D

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

evaluate usually means "find the value"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\huge \smile \]

OpenStudy (hy123):

Hm... im still a bit confused. Was never good with logs

OpenStudy (hy123):

Is the answer \[\log_{9}9^2=2 \]

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

hmm i have an idea :) try to go here @hy123 http://openstudy.com/updates/4fa45f8fe4b029e9dc34e0b5 then tell me what you think :D

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

and yes that's right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\Huge Log_a(a)^b = b \times Log_aa\] \[\huge Log_a a = 1\]

OpenStudy (hy123):

Igbasallote, if it gives me the equation and say evalutae. What would the answer be?

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

the answer would be 2..like you said

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

oh wait..in a different thing?

OpenStudy (hy123):

oh lol! i got confused sorry thanks

OpenStudy (hy123):

So basically \[\log_{9}81=2 \]

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

yup

OpenStudy (hy123):

ty

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@lgbasallote when i use equation editor it gets entered to next line..

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

but when there is an "x" or any other variable and the instruction is "evaluate" then you will solve for the value of x

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

@waterineyes do you mean to ask how to write \(\LaTeX\) in line with usual text?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Meaning: Suppose I want to write "y" with keyboard(normally) but other thing like = 4 by using equation editor then its get entered and i get: y =4 How to write them in line??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes you mean the right.. I want to write normal text and LATEX in a line..

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

hmm...let's talk in DM...my latex is malfunctioning

OpenStudy (anonymous):

DM??

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

direct messaging

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I try to write usual text with \( LATEX\) So I have done it..
