An architect needs to determine the slope between two points on a ski lift. The two points have been identified as (15, 35) and (195, 50), where x is the horizontal distance and y is the vertical distance from the bottom of the lift. Assuming the lift runs in a straight line, what is the slope of the line between the two points

\[y _{2}-y _{1}/x _{2}-x _{1}\] This is the slope formula, input your numbers and you should get your answer :)

is it -50

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Input the numbers as so, you have (15,35) and (195,50) Where y2 is 50, y1 is 35 and x2 is 195 while x1 is 15. So you have to do the operations. (50-35)/(195-15)

15,180

15/180, you can simplify this by dividing the top and bottom by 15. Can you tell me what that leaves you with?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1,12

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Correct! and that's your slope

thanks
