Choose the Standard Form of the equation y = −one over twox − 5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

For Standard Form, the equation is set up as Ax+By = C Here's we have -5 as C, you must now get the x to the other side of the equals sign.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how do i do that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Add 1/2x to both sides, that way you take the -1/2x away from one side and transfer it to the other. Because what you do to one side of the equation, must happen to the other side as well.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x + 2y = −10 is this right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You multiplied by 2, you don't really need to in this case, leaving it as (1/2)x + y = -5 is fine. Which is just the subtraction part. But you did, in fact multiply and add correctly.

Thanks again for the help!!
