OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

how does a harmonica work? i mean what makes the harmonica produce those long harmonious sounds that are fun to hear?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

blow in it XD

OpenStudy (anonymous):

gotta have good breath control

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You just have to memorize the chord key, and it's the same way a harmonica works. There's a way to blow in it to make it sound perfect, and just come up with a song :P

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea..............what he said^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

OpenStudy (turingtest):

Perhaps the question is about the internal mechanism of the harmonica? If so, the sound of the harmonica comes from little flaps called reeds, usually made of metal, that vibrate and produce a specific frequency (note) depending on their size, shape, and weight. Each little hole has two reeds, which correspond to two different notes; one that is played when inhaling and one that is played when exhaling. I have forgotten some of the terminology of the various parts of the instrument, so you may as well have a look here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harmonica#Parts

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you have to blow into those little holes. Each hole has a different sound

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its like whistling. It also produces long sounds and different notes

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

lol yes @TuringTest that was the question =))) i was asking *how harmonica produces sounds* because unlike normal wind instruments that has only one note , a harmonica seems to have a mixture of a bass sound and a soprano sound at the same time.
