Just finished first lecture and working through Problem Set #0 which includes "Familiarize yourself with Python and IDLE using the exercises given in the handout." I have been unable to locate such a handout. Can you point me to it? Thanks.
Hello, UncleLou. I also just finished the first lecture, and was thrown by the same thing. I did see a tiny intro IDLE exercise on the "Software" page, accessed on the left sidebar. If you scroll down a bit to the "Using IDLE" section, there are a couple of examples, followed by a couple of exercises. They helped me. Good luck!
Thanks, Speed. I had found that but it doesn't seem to fit the language, at least I don't feel "familiarized" with Pathon after that (and, boy, I haven't solved quadratic equations in 50 years!). Anyway, maybe that's all that was intended. I'll try other sources to get more up to speed with IDLE. Thanks for posting.
Yeah, the quadratic equation threw me as well (it's been a while for me too). Also, I wasn't sure how much I should be expecting IDLE to do, and how much of the footwork was up to me. I slogged around, getting IDLE to do just one bit at a time, then plugging each of those values in for each next step. After this PS0, I begin to see how using raw_input could (theoretically) make solving that quadratic equation more elegant than it was for me. Maybe I should go try it again now, using raw_input . . . I do see suggestions, in responses to other questions, to avail ourselves of tutorials and such.
Hi Uncle Lou and Speed I just finished Lecture1 myself, and I am the process of working on Problem set 0
I would like to learn .NET and C#?
The handouts (as far as I have understood) is on this page http://goo.gl/Yyx8K
