How can I rotate this square 90 degrees clockwise?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well, it is a square so the points will be the same.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Meaning the coordinates will be the same also?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@student92 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Look at the center of the square. No imagine to rotate it 90 degrees. They will still have the same point but now line BA will be on the top, and CD will be on the bottom.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hence. A(-7,7) B(-3,7) etc.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@student92 What if it was this rectangle?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@ganeshie8 ? Can you help please?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Rotate 90 degrees?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes.. clockwise

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Same thing. The center is at y=4 Initially it is going right and left by 2 from the center, now it is going down and up by 2. Initially it is going down and up by 4 from the center, now it is going right and left by 4.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Kind of confusing but thanks..

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

u trying to rotate the object by origin or the object's center ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Center

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

Okay. student92 method works pretty well... and its simple

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

before rotation, center of rectangle is at (-5, 4) u see that ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

After rotation also, it stays there. center doesnt change if we rotate the object

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So B would be (-8,5)
