Which of the following best describes an adaptation that developed, enabling primitive plants to make the transition to survival on land? Phloem developed to transport water from the plant’s roots to the rest of the plant. Stomata developed to control water loss and gas exchange. A cuticle developed to protect seeds from becoming damaged. Spores developed to allow plants to reproduce through the formation of an embryo. @Joppei XD
Ah, this is quite a tricky one. It is not answer A because the first plants did not have any roots, for example moss has no roots. So A is out of the question Stomata are the holes in leafs that let CO2 rich air in and oxygen rich air out. They cause a plant to lose more water if they are open more often. So B is unlikely A cuticle is the wax layer on plants which protects it from dehydration and parasite infections. While this sounds likely it has nothing to do with seeds getting damaged, but seeds getting dried out. So C is probably wrong as well. Now, spores are helpful in protection against dehydration. My guess would be that this answer is the one that the sadists formulation this question are after.
so answer d.... :P
