OpenStudy (anonymous):

Is there enough information given to find the value of X.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I will edit in the stuff and repost it.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Than walk you through what I got.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

This is why triangles are important in construction. Because as long as you know two things about the triangle then you can pretty much find out everything about that triangle

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So yes you have enough information

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Almost done :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

they are the same. I remember the rule that if you want to change the lengths of the triangle you have to either change the angle or a side. Since we have two sides that are the same it means that both are the same.

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

@Romero which two sides are congruent ? i see only one

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The right angle in the side pretty much closes the deal because my top statement alone can't stand without that right angle

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If you want to see an example of one that isn't congruent I will post one. Gimme a second please.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

we have an angle and a side that are the same....we only need to prove two things are congruent about triangles whether it be angles or sides to prove that the triangles are congruent in every form

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

ASA, SSS, SAS by which they both are congruent ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

|dw:1341798981202:dw|

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Here are some not-so-congruent triangles. :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Does it make more sense?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i would say not enough information o_o.., same problem with ganeshie8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

all you have is two right triangles with a common hypotenuse.... that's it... can't use any of the congruency theorems...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

TheMusician's attached pic is a bit wrong too. The "red" angles should be 67 and 113.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but because we know that they have a common angle and a common side we can say that both triangles are congruent

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it will be congrent by angle side angle :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it will be congrent by angle side angle :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it will be congrent by angle side angle :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it will be congrent by angle side angle :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@TheMusician but the total angle in the triangle doesn't add up to 180. 90 + 23 + 76 = 189

OpenStudy (anonymous):

67 no 76

OpenStudy (anonymous):

But it doesn't change that it's still congruent.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you can't use side angle side because we only know that one side and one angle are the same but we want to know if x is the same...that' why we use trigonometry instead of geometry

OpenStudy (anonymous):

|dw:1341799994626:dw| let's give these names so we can name the angle and sides easier *-* @Harpellet which angle side angle?
