How do you figure out the perimeter of a triange with coordinators? I know you use the distance formula d=(x1-x2)^2+(y1-y2)^2. But I don't understand because you have three separate coordinates.

Do you have the three points, the 3 (x,y) pairs? plot the points (roughly) on a graph and connect the dots to form a triangle. now find the length of each side using its points.

OpenStudy (fwizbang):

First you use the formula to find the distance from point 1 to point 2. Then you use the formula to find the distance from point 2 to point 3. Then you use the formula to find the distance from point 3 to point 1. Now that you have the lengths of all three sides, add them to get the perimeter.
