Determine the zeros of the function 4x2 + 4x − 3 = 0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

For finding the zeroes of a second degree polynomial\[ax ^{2}+bx+c=0\] we can use the equation: \[x _{1,2} =(-b \pm \sqrt{b ^{2}-4ac})/(2a)\] When the plus-minus sign indicates the two different solutions. Notice that when the term inside the root is zero, there is only one solution, and if it is negative, there are no solutions.
