If the pancreas stopped producing sodium bicarbonate, what would be the most immediate result for the digestive system? The gallbladder would increase its production of sodium bicarbonate to make up for the loss. The enzymes of the small intestine would not be able to break down food efficiently. The stomach would develop ulcers as it became much more acidic. The large intestine would be able to absorb more nutrients than it normally does.
too much acid in the small intestines as there is any base to neutralise it... leading to possible ulcerations in the small intestines due to the lack of protective mucosa as seen in the stomach where sodium bicarbonate isn't present to neutralised the acid but the stomach has ,easures to protect itself unlike the small intestines...
So its C im guessing? :DD
nope B as the stomach has protective mucosa but if it is too acidic in the small intestines then it wont break down properly...
Oh ok thanks;D
