Find the slope between points (1, 3) and (4, 5)

OpenStudy (mathteacher1729):

Do you have graph paper?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no

OpenStudy (anonymous):

y2-y1 ----- x2-x1 first you do... 5-3 ---- 4-1 then you get--->2/1 this is your slope

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Just use the formula y2-y1/x2-x1 to solve for slope. Once we pluck in the points, we get- 5-3/4-1=2/3 and 2/3 is our slope.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry 4-1 is 3

slaps forhead*

OpenStudy (anonymous):

slope is 2/3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol its okay abneraguila ^_^

OpenStudy (mathteacher1729):

Get graph paper. :) These are very easy to do if you just draw the two points, then count the rise and run. (see attached).

OpenStudy (mathteacher1729):

Also, you need to know that UP and RIGHT is positive. (that means LEFT and DOWN are negative). In this case, both the rise and run are positive.
