Provide an example of an arithmetic series which totals zero. Using complete sentences, explain how you created the example.

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

a simple example is -2, 0, 2 3 terms common difference is 2 and the 1st term is -2... its symmetrical about 0

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

another example could be -10, -5, 0, 5, 10 the sum is 0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Does it have to be a partial series like the one campbell gave, or does it need to be infinite? I'm guessing the latter.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How would you explain that?

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

the fact its symmetrical about zero is the key to your explanation
