Graph the conic section.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't need help with the graphing, just the part below it.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but that's just it... you need to complete the bottom in order for you to draw the graph of that conic.... so by looking at the equation, do you know what type of conic you have?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think it's an ellipse

OpenStudy (anonymous):

all of those things they ask you at the bottom is obtained by the equation... yes... it's an ellipse...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I've been graphing it by plugging it into my calculator. But I need help with figuring out the bottom, like if I didn't have a calculator. I'm just really confused on like what to do

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the standard form for the equation of an ellipse is: \[\huge \frac{(x-h)^2}{a^2}+\frac{(y-k)^2}{b^2} =1 \] center (h, k) if a>b, then major axis is parallel to the x-axis if a<b, major axis isparallel to the y-axis... ... i'm sure you have all these but if not, use this on page 3.... http://tutorial.math.lamar.edu/pdf/Algebra_Cheat_Sheet.pdf

ok thank you so much!
