1.A counterexample is necessary to draw a conclusion by inductive reasoning. True False 2.Inductive reasoning involves applying a general rule to a specific situation. True False

OpenStudy (helder_edwin):

counterexamples are used to disprove something. induction if going from particular to general (like evolution theory)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

k, thanks for replying, but how do you draw a conclusion by inductive reasoning? and 2 is false?

OpenStudy (helder_edwin):

by steps. like with mathematical induction.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

your not allowed to say true or false?

OpenStudy (helder_edwin):

a counterexample is used to disprove things. for instance if you say "all pretty girls are stupid" how would you disprove this?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay.by using a counterexample

OpenStudy (helder_edwin):

yes. so you go and find a pretty girl that is also smart. you can't use a counterexample to prove something

OpenStudy (helder_edwin):

so you would use a counterexample in an inductive reasoning to prove your conclusion is actually wrong.

OpenStudy (helder_edwin):

by the way u r right, 2 is false

OpenStudy (anonymous):

k, thanks for the help helder. both of them false

OpenStudy (helder_edwin):

u r welcome
