How does random fertilization add to the genetic variation
anyone?
Randon fertilization allows species to combine genetic information that might not combine with selective fertilization.
random fertilization helps to prevent natural selection thus when two organisms are mated on the bases of similarity or dissimilarity of characters then natural selection will occur and only a particular type of organisms will increase in number reducing the genetic variability thus to prevent natural selection from operating it is necessary that random fertilization occurs in a population and evry organism gets an equal chance to survive
@BostonBlue why is this question still open? o-O I found another one similar to it that's from a year ago.. Here: http://openstudy.com/study#/updates/4fb1771de4b05565342782b0
Fusion of sperm and ovum, each having a unique combination of chromosomes, introduces further variation.
