Where does the graph of y = 2x2 − x − 3 cross the x-axis?

OpenStudy (apoorvk):

When the graph crosses the X-axis, the 'y' value becomes zero (if you can visualise that). So equate the equation of your graph to zero, and factorise it to find its roots. Those will be the 'x' values you need.

(1/2, 0) and (−3, 0) as my answer

OpenStudy (apoorvk):

Umm, am sorry but they are incorrect. You need to factorise this: \[2x^2 -x-3=0\] One more try? :]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

uhm (3/1,0) an (-1,0)?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i mean 3/2

OpenStudy (apoorvk):

Yes yes, now you're hundred percent right-o! :]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

YES! thank you ^^
