how do i solve 7/20, to get a decimal answer?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

.35

OpenStudy (anonymous):

calculator.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

0.35

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Calculators come standard on computers.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

not using a calculator.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

First you divide 7 by 2 getting 3.5. Than move the dot one step to the left getting 0.35 or .35.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Then multiply numerator and denominator by 5

OpenStudy (ragingsquirrel):

Guys, try to teach someone how to do this instead of telling them to use a calculator

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You'll get 35/100 or 35 100ths.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@RagingSquirrel seriously? Teach 7/20? I can explain a process or avenue to take. But I'm not going to waste time "teaching" 7/20.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Since dividing by 100, move the decimal two places to the left from the whole number 35 to convert to decimal.

OpenStudy (ragingsquirrel):

It could very well be a 9 year old on the other computer, we dont want the new generation to take the easy route

OpenStudy (anonymous):

anyone can teach me step by step how to get an answer without using a calculator? I'm sorry I'm not smart as half of you.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

or maybe draw it ?

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

@Vitaliy19 @Kathi26 explained it well :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@RagingSquirrel Respectfully, having sites like these effectively paves the way for "easy routes". That said, I get your gist. But I'm not going to assume the boy in the pic is 9.
