Factor: 3y2 - 5y + 8

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

what if i break down the middle term for you 3y^2 + 3y - 8y + 8

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

getting some idea now?

OpenStudy (jiteshmeghwal9):

first breackout the middle value such that if we multiply the digits we get 24y^2 & if we add them then we get -5y.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

break mid term 3y^2-8y+3y+8 y(3y-8)-1(3y-8) (y-1)(3y-8)

OpenStudy (jiteshmeghwal9):

so,\[3y^2-8y+3y+8\]\[y(3y-8)-1(3y-8)\]\[(y-1)(3y-8)\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@jiteshmeghwal9 yes it is correct

sorry thought it was the asker !

@sami-21 @jiteshmeghwal9 : how do you guys got the minus sign when making factors?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Farheen28 minus sign in front of (3y-8) it was necessary because if u multiply it u should get teh original one just minus is taken common from +3y+8 so it becomes -(3y-8)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks i was confused because it had plus signs
