What is the equation of the line in slope–intercept form that passes through the point (0, 3) and is perpendicular to the line y = 2x – 6?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it passes through the point (0,3) which is the y-intercept. y=mx+b where m=slope and b is the y-intercept. so we know y=mx+3. When two lines are perpendicular their slopes have opposite signs. so y=-2x+3 the line given had a slope of 2 so a line perpendicular would have the opposite sign or -2 y=-2x+3
