Gary is using a combination of regular polygonal tiles for his kitchen floor. He begins the tessellation at a vertex by placing one hexagon and two triangles. Which two polygons should he use to fill up the vacant space at the vertex and make it possible to tessellate the floor?

@sabimaru help..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Ledah :((

OpenStudy (ledah):

hm.. so he's started with a hexagon and two triangles?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

holy cow. one sec. been a while

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2 triangles because 360 – (120 + 60 +60) = 2 x 60

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is that it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry, rachel - gonna have to give me a second. breaking news coming out (in a newsroom here)

OpenStudy (ledah):

Well triangles are 360 :P

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh okay take your time!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

180 degrees in a triangle, ledah

OpenStudy (ledah):

Yeah but polygons equal 360degrees :l

OpenStudy (ledah):

and if I'm correct it applies here

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You two still online?

OpenStudy (ledah):

Yeah. I am.
