hi is there any group dedicated to the eDX MIT 's stuff??

OpenStudy (ledah):

Not sure you should probably check the big blue banner :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

which one??

OpenStudy (ledah):

the one that says openstudy feedback at the top of your screen

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thank you :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hi @fatine - what group exactly are you looking for? We do have some MIT OCW groups - none for EdX as of now (though a lot of the content/help will work for both). What subject are you interested in finding?

OpenStudy (blues):

Makes me wonder if there were some way OS could integrate itself better with the online course movement. EdX of course. And what the heck, I'll mention Coursera too. I have a higher opinion of the content and intent behind the EdX/MITx side, but as Coursera rolled out 112 new courses from 12 new institutions this morning...

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

the MIT groups intimidate me (no offense) it's just that they are so smart they use so much complex words and they expect you to be as smart as them lol

hi @cshalvey im intrested in bioengineering and im wondering if there is someone here who alredy got that cetrtificate from the eDX programme

OpenStudy (blues):

A short history of the online course distribution platforms: Coursera started as a platform for distribution of free video courses from contributing universities. While it is a great first step and I am grateful to all who helped and participated with it, I have some serious criticisms of the Coursera model. Many of the courses are not of particularly rigorous academic content - most have the potential to rock but are more a collection of publicity stunts, if you will, but on by the producing institutions. (Probabilistic Graphical Models was an exception to that). Having taken seven of Coursera's courses, I should know. That said, Coursera just announced 112 new courses yesterday and on the surface it is very intriguing to see where that is going. MIT did not get on the Coursera bandwagon. They launched their own online program on their own server and they called it MITx. Then, MIT and Harvard together launched the broader EdX - of which MITx is a part - which will almost certainly be the platform from which those two schools distribute their own online certificate courses. MITx has to date offered only one course - 6.002x, Intro to Circuits and Electronics, which I took and got a certificate from. What have Circuits and Electronics to do with biology and biologic engineering? Quite a bit, plainly, if you dig into the math models and formalisms - even though I wish they had started with Intro to Physical Biochemistry, Molecular Modelling, or something from the 7.000 program too. :)

The certificate looked something like this:

firts thank you for your answer, i ve alredy seen the certificate someone in my colllge has it and it has also that code that prouves that it actually belongs to that person, he has it in informatics and circuits but i didn t know that they don t have any bioingeneering classes, that will be bad
