Identify which distributive property problem below would help you solve the following scenario: Your English class has 23 students. You would like to treat the class to cookies. You would like each person to have 3 cookies. Which expression would be a quick way to figure out how many cookies you would need to bake? How do i do this one @waterineyes ??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

See, suppose you have 3 friends.. You want to give 3 chocolates to them how many chocolates you require??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

23x3

OpenStudy (gabylovesyou):

9 @waterineyes

OpenStudy (gabylovesyou):

@kayble and using distributive property?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@kayble it is 23*3 but we have to use distributive property here..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Then we have to change the question

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Gabylovesyou you are right.. For 23 students requiring 3 cookies how many cookies you need to bake?? @Gabylovesyou

OpenStudy (gabylovesyou):

is it 3(20 + 3)

OpenStudy (gabylovesyou):

69

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes you are right..

OpenStudy (gabylovesyou):

so i put 3(20 + 3) ???? :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

See, it is \(3 \times 23\) But we have to use distributive property here.. So you know 23 can be written as (20+3) So it becomes: \[3 \times (20+3) \implies 3(20 + 3)\]

OpenStudy (gabylovesyou):

ohhhhh ok!! Thank you soooooo much!! :)
