I still do not know how to solve this.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I got 346.41 and that isn't one of the answer choices

OpenStudy (anonymous):

please help...

OpenStudy (nali):

area = (½)(apothem)(perimeter) the apthem is 10 in ur case so just plug in values here is a helpful website http://www.mathwords.com/a/area_regular_polygon.htm

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how can I find the perimeter?

OpenStudy (theeric):

apothem is not 10, according to the link! Do you know about cosine and sine yet?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no

OpenStudy (theeric):

Okay.. I'll continue thinking! And, according to the website that Nali provided the link to, the perimeter is defined as the added length of each of it's sides.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how do I find the length of each side???

OpenStudy (theeric):

Is this a geometry course you're in?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes it is

OpenStudy (theeric):

Haha, I don't know off hand, but I'll continue looking! I can tell you what I'm thinking now, if you want. I don't want to mislead, you, though. I just have a plan of action here...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

tell me it might help a lot.

OpenStudy (theeric):

Haha, well, it's kinda boggled still.But.. The hexagon is composed of six triangles. The total area you want is six times the area of each triangle (each triangle is a sixth of the hexagon, after all..). So I want to focus on one triangle's area and multiply it's area by six! We know the angle of the triangle part that's touching the center. (360 degrees/6) We know that the triangle is isosceles. (I don't know if I spelled that right). So the other two angles in the triangle can be determined since a triangle has 180 degrees...

OpenStudy (theeric):

Yay! Each triangle is equilateral! Does that help? :P

OpenStudy (nali):

just like the Eric said here is a video that i think will help you alot it is only about 7 minates http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LrxZMdQ6tiw

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes thank you :D

OpenStudy (nali):

ur welcome

OpenStudy (theeric):

cool :) Nice finding the video!

OpenStudy (theeric):

I guess it helps to memorize the 30 degree 60 degree 90 degree triangle thing!
