Use long division to solve the problem below. x^3-6x^2+4x-5/x+2 I know how to use synthetic but I dont know how to long divide. Any explanation will be appreciated!

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

x^2 -8x + 20 ------------ x+2 )x^3 - 6x^2 + 4x - 5 x^3 + 2x^2 subtract ---------- -8 x^2 + 4x -8 x^2 - 16x subtract ------------ 20x - 5 20 x + 40 ----------- -45 remainder

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

quotient is x^2 - 8x + 20 remainder - 45

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

you divide the first term of the divisor (x) into the first term of the polynomial

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

ok
