That if x • y = 0, then either x or y is 0. You have this problem for homework: 5x=0 and reason that x must be 0. What type of reasoning is this?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Can someone help mee :) please

OpenStudy (theviper):

to call any one u can mention them like @UnkleRhaukus :)

OpenStudy (theviper):

but if they r free :)

OpenStudy (experimentx):

is 5 = 0 ??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So if a number times a number is 0, one of them have to be 0. In the case of 5x=0, either 5 or x has to be 0. 5 cannot be 0, so x must be 0. (I don't know the type of reasoning, sorry)

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

deductive?

OpenStudy (experimentx):

http://changingminds.org/disciplines/argument/types_reasoning/types_reasoning.htm might be comparative too
