do you know what the standard form is?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@gitahimart is it Ax + By = C?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

have you tried to rearrange the equation in question?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

y-4=-1/2(x-6) Ax + By = C Ax = 1/2x By = y C = 4+3=7 so whats the standard form equation?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@esad you lost?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OK, look at this , you've already given me the format of standard form: Ax + By = C, remember A and B, represent coefficients of x and y resp. and C is a constant, right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So it would be x + y = 7?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

nope, remember: Ax = 1/2x By = y C = 7

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1/2x +y = 7, now how do you make the 1/2x whole?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you solve for x?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

look at this, there's only 1/2x so to make it whole, multiply the whole equation by 2, i.e 2 (1/2x +y = 7) what do you get?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You get 1x + y = 7

OpenStudy (anonymous):

nope @esad 2*1/2 = 1 so 2 * 1/2x =x , also remember when opening up parenthesis, you multiply everything on the inside with whats on the outside: in this case: 2 (1/2x +y = 7) becomes x +2y = 14, got it now?
