Solve -3 < 2x + 9 < 6.

OpenStudy (karatechopper):

well...we have two cases here

OpenStudy (karatechopper):

-3<2x+9 and 2x+9<6

OpenStudy (karatechopper):

now is it easier to solve?

OpenStudy (rsadhvika):

i think its easier to solve it simultaneously without splitting

OpenStudy (amistre64):

its the same as "onesided" stuff; you just work from the middle out and balance the outsides

OpenStudy (karatechopper):

No? lets break it down a bit more?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

the thing rsad said :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ya

OpenStudy (rsadhvika):

-3 < 2x + 9 < 6 you need to isolate x begin with subtracting 9 through out

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so would it be -6 < x < -1.5

OpenStudy (rsadhvika):

-3-9 < 2x + 9-9 < 6-9 -12 < 2x < -3 then divide by 2

OpenStudy (rsadhvika):

you have it !! correct... very good work :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks so much

OpenStudy (rsadhvika):

np :)
