solve. (c+2) + 8=4

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

to solve for c you need to isolate it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

would i add the 2 and the 8 then solve?

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

(c+2) + 8 = 4 c+2 + 8 = 4 c+10 = 4

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

yes now you can subtract 10 from both sides

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and the answer will be -6

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

c+10-10 = 4-10 c = -6

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

yes good work :)

No, when solving equations, you want to get the c alone by moving the 2 and 8 to the other side of the equation. Instead of adding, you do the opposite function, subtraction, to move them. So subtract 2 from both sides of the equation, and then subtract 8 from both sides. ( c + 2 ) + 8 = 4. -2 - 2 c + 8 = 2 - 8 - 8 c = - 6
