I'm just taking a guess here, but can't you use what Huneya gave you and solve it with substitution? One of the equations is already set up for easy substitution of "x." If I calculated it right, I would take the 2x=-7y-1 and replace x with -2y+10, so you would just be solving for y. When I did it I ended up with y=-7, then I just substituted that back into (either) equation and ended up with x=24.

@huneya solved for x. Just plug that into another pair of equations. x = -2y + 10 -> -7y - 1 = -4y + 20 -> 3y = -21 -> y = -7 Now plus it back in to solve for x. x = -2y + 10 x = -2(-7) + 10 x = ?
