Use the distributive property to simplify the expression below: −2(5d − 1) + 4d

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Use the distributive problem so -2 x 5d and -2 x -1 Then add 4d to however many D's -2 x 5d is

OpenStudy (anonymous):

after distributive -10d+2+4d can you let me know the simplified form?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You asking me or her :P

OpenStudy (anonymous):

her:)

OpenStudy (gabylovesyou):

lol no clue

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Gaby, -10D+2+4D. To simplify you pair up like terms. -10d and +4d are like terms because they booth have the same variable. 2 does not have a pair because there are no other numbers that are alone. So you pair up like terms first and -10d+4d is?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok -10d+4d means d(-10+4) what will you get if you add 4 in -10

OpenStudy (gabylovesyou):

-6d????

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Gabylovesyou yes you are right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes. so now you can't pair up any other like terms so you've simplified it all the way down. You're now left with -6d+2

OpenStudy (gabylovesyou):

thank u!!! :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No problem(:

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok yw:)
