Part 1: [4 points] Find the measure of angle CFD. Part 2: [6 points] Explain how you found the measure including the angle relationships. (complementary, supplementary, vertical, etc.)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

here's a hint: cfd is complementary to dfe. dfe is a vertical angle to afb which is 51 degrees

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Angle AFB = Angle EFD = 51

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah, vertical angles are congruent and complementary angles sum to 90 degrees

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so if cfd is complementary to efd which is 51 degrees...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\(Angle(BFC) + Angle(CFD) + Angle (DEF) = 180\) Supplementary \(90 + Angle (CFD) + 51 = 180\) Find Angle(CFD) now..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

or you can use: Angle(CFD) + 51 = 90 Complementary... Subtract 51 both the sides you will get the angle you require..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

whats the measure of angle CFD

OpenStudy (anonymous):

90?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

NO

OpenStudy (anonymous):

CFD + 51= 90. so 90-51 is CFD

OpenStudy (anonymous):

as in @waterineyes post above

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Subtract 90 - 51 = ???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

39

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well Done..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

now how would i word it as explaining it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Angle(AFB) is equal to Angle (EFD) by using vertical Angle property.. So therefore, Angle(EFD) = 51 Now, Angle(CFD) + Angle(DFE) are complementary angles so their sum must be 90.. So, Angle(CFD) + 51 = 90 By solving we will get Angle(CFD) = 39
