What are some examples of america being the "world police?" for example, being involved in the Rwandan genocide?
they also assist in the constant wars between north and southern sudan
Okay, and sorry I'm going to sound stupid here, but with Iraq, I guess since I've always been young and never into that stuff ive never really understood it, that is a war with us and them right?
oh do u mean the wars between Iran and US?
oh am sorry US was saving Iraq from Sadam's regime at that time is that ure question?
no but that is what I was thinking when i said "world police" I needed at least 5 examples and now I have three(:
yeah u're rite about that
can you think of any more? Sorry I dont want to be pushy I understand if you dont want to help..
i think there's also china am really sure ...it's fine ure not being pushy lol
Haha okay, and wasnt Vietnam one?
yup correct how many more dyu need am researching on it XD
5(: And oh gosh its okay you dont have to do that!!
oh yeah and there's Somali as well lol am fine with it i like researching haha
oh haha okay because i tried to research earlier but i wasnt getting anything done. do you have the website you used still?
naah not yet just remembering stuff im mostly finding like debates about whether US should be the world police ....is the question urgent cause i can send one to u once i get it
i was hoping to finalize the speech tomorrow but i have to finish it wednesday morning
so u need more than just countries ?figures they also participated in North Korea:)
Well I wanted to mention maybe 2 in the intro and then bring them back along with other examples in my main points
oh ok cool so is this ure essay question?
no i had to write a presuasive 8 minutes speech on anything that wasnt overused and this seemed like the most interesting on the list so i chose it
wow u have a lot of courage then ..i think it makes u hink out of the box lol
really? Why do you say that?
well i would probably die if i had to do such a question cause of the limit of ideas haha
good luck with it though :)
Yeah I thought it would be easy but i tried to do research and i came up with 3 okay points which was all i needed so i guess ill be okay
my points were that the U.S. needs to learn to police themselves first, the debt is rising, and troops are dying for wars not their own
oh so its like a speech about why they shouldn't police other nations? that one can have alot of ideas then :)
yeah it was either that or take away the death penalty, which i dont agree with so the choice was clear.
ahahaa yeah i guess i'd probably do the same thing ...btw u can also talk about how they need to be a leader and not police since it could lead to negative activites such as terrorism
oh good one! I can use that as a subpoint. Im trying to keep my points vague so i can elaborate more
lol good idea is it a ":college speech?"
yeah but im in high school lol
well i have to get up early tomorrow so we can finish the conversation thank you for everything(: Good night
cyah
So whenever you get on..do you think my points are strong enough?
The United States did NOT intervene in the Rwandan genocide, so you want to be sure you get that right. Arguments have raged about why President Clinton did not, and the most crass is that he was concerned about the effect intervention would have on the upcoming 1994 midterm elections. World police actions of which I can recall are the Korean War (actually called a "police action" by the time, and nominally undertaken at the behest of the UN), the Vietnam War, the invasion of Grenada in 1983, the invasion of Panama in 1989, the liberation of Kuwait from Iraqi occupation in the First Gulf War, the abortive invasion of Somalia in 1992, participation in the NATO bombing in Kosovo in 1999, the invasion of Afghanistan in 2001, and the invasion of Iraq in 2003. In addition there have been many smaller-scale "special operations" events, such as the assassination of Osama bin Laden in 2011, or numerous acts to suppress piracy off the coast of Somalia, which have resulted in hostage rescuing, destruction of pirate ships, and on occasion the killing of pirates. Quite of number of al Qaeda leaders have been assassinated by drone strikes, too. Finally, there are a number of treaties and obligations which fall under the general category of police actions, such as the mutual defense agreement with Taiwan which deters its invasion by China, and with South Korea which at one point deterred its invasion by North Korea (it is very likely the South Koreans are plenty strong enough to defend themselves from a weakened and famished North Korea these days). Egypt has kept its peace with Israel ever since the Camp David accords (brokered by US President Carter) in large part because of a continuing subsidy of the Egyptian military by the United States. India and Pakistan keep their peace with respect to their conflict over the Kashmir in part because they both have nukes, and in part because neither wants to anger the United States, for slightly different reasons.
Okay thank you for clearing that up. I know I saw a doc and it said we were there but pulled out
libya, the korean war and vietnam
