Gino designed a garden for his rectangular backyard. The design he drew on paper is 10 inches long. The length of his backyard is50 feet. If his drawing is to scale and is 9 inches wide, how many feet wide is his backyard? Write a proportion using words. Then, use the proportion to calculate the yard width. Show your work.

Sorry it took so long
YOU ARE A LIFE SAVOR
No problem, anytime
it says use a proportion tho ??
Yeah, to express it in words
how do i do that .
Ok, it would be Gino's design of his backyard has proportion that is 60:1 compared to his backyard. I don't know how your teacher would want it to be phrased, but this should be legit.
CORRECTION: Gino's design of his backyard has proportion that is 1:60 compared to his backyard.
thanks so muchh!
Since we set the proportion as a comparison of the lengths that are on the design compared to the real ones in the back yard. So for instance Real Length : 600 inches Design Length : 10 inches So it would be saying 10/ 600 or 1: 60
then it says use the proportion to calculate yard width?
Ok convert the answer into yards
how many feet are in a yard ?
3 feet
15 is the yard width ?
Yes
i got this out of all this . plz correct if im wrong ;
45 feet is Ginos width of his backyard . Gino's design of his backyard has proportion that is 1:60 compared to his backyard. The yard width of ginos is 15 yards . my work ; (converting feet to inches) 50 feet/1 x 12 inches/feet = 600 inches (using a proportion) 10/9 = 600/x -length/width- then you do ; 10x=5400 which equals 540 inches (divided both sides by 10) . which is 45 feet.
That's exactly correct
omg . im always coming to you . you are da bomb !
Thanks, it's been my pleasure =)
do u do this for fun ?
Not really, I came here because I had some trouble with math, but I don't mind helping people
oh well thanks so much !
