For the function rule y = -2x - 3, provide the x-y coordinates of the y-intercept and the x-intercept

OpenStudy (anonymous):

For the y-intercept, in y=mx+b form (which this equation is already in) "b" is the y-intercept. Points are always in (x,y) form, so the "intercept" is the point on this line that crosses an axis. The y-intercept will be (0, something) since its x-intercept is 0, and the x-intercept will be (something, 0) since its y-intercept is 0. After you find the y-intercept, substitute 0 for y in the equation and solve for x. This will give you the x-intercept.
