Find the polynomial function with roots 1, –2, and 5

OpenStudy (radar):

f(x)=(x-1)(x+2)(x-5) Multiply those three factors and you will have your polynomial function. Can you complete that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes thts the only thing i have trouble with is getting it started

OpenStudy (radar):

I will start you by multiplying the first two: (x-1)(x+2):\[x ^{2}+x-2\]Now do the \[(x ^{2}+x-2)(x-5)\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

got it now thanks

OpenStudy (radar):

This can be done the old fashion way: \[x ^{2}+x-2\] \[ x-5\]----------------
