Why is the cell theory a theory and not a law? The cell theory explains the natural world. The cell theory describes the natural world. The cell theory does not have enough support to become a law The scientific community has not accepted the cell theory.

@stephstar101 lol help ?

OpenStudy (stephstar101):

Which do you think is the answer?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well i knowing its not the third one

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No idea, but I remember one of my professors saying that biologists generally do have theories instead of laws.

OpenStudy (stephstar101):

To help a little with understanding, cell theory isn't exactly proven all the way, since new findings can come up. There are also other theories as well, so it's not black or white enough to be considered a law. That should help with your answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the last one? @stephstar101

OpenStudy (stephstar101):

I'd actually would say the one you eliminated. The scientific community didn't exactly reject the cell theory, which is why we use it to explain biology.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The cell theory is as proven as anything can be in biology. I can't think of any alternative theory, to be honest... a modern one, I mean. I know there were a few alternative theories back when the cell theory was first proposed, but that was a long time ago.
