Bibliography, Biography, Cartography, Photography: These words all have "graph," which is an example of a (prefix. root word. suffix. synonym )
suffix becuase it is at the end of all the words
thankyou :)
ur welcome :-)
The answer is root word.
Or at least, my opinion. Suffixes are like -ily (happily) or -hood (Brotherhood), and mean nothing by themselves. 'Graph' is a root because it has a specified meaning that when combined with another root, makes a complex word. The root 'graph' refers to writing of something. Or something written or put down: Bibliography - List of references written in a document Biography - Written record of someone's life Cartography - The study of maps Photography - study/practice of photographs, which are physical.
@LaurenAshley1201: @wach is correct. Let's look at it logically first. We know it's not a synonym since those are two different words that mean the same. We are only dealing with one word; graph so that eliminates D. We know it's not a prefix because a prefix comes at the beginning of a word. In each of these words something precedes graph so it cannot be A either. That means it's either a root word or a suffix. Since the word we are looking at is graph (not graphy, which is not even a word on it's own) and y follows the word then y must be the suffix and graph is the root. This seems weird because most people think that y has no meaning, but it in fact it means process. So the word geography literally means "the process of drawing (or recording) the earth". The same deconstruction can be done to the rest of the words in this question as well.
