This is random, but do you guys think an ACT score of 28 will get me a full scholarship? how many points does the average ACT score go up? i want to take it in September again. How did you guys do on your ACTs?

OpenStudy (karatechopper):

I took it as a 7th grader. (Now going into 8th). I took it and got a 17

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

i just got a pathetic score of 30 :/

OpenStudy (karatechopper):

Dude. 30 is great.

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

it was pathetic for my parents...

OpenStudy (karatechopper):

17 was pathetic for me.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

30 is amazing! I wish I would get a 30! and @karatechopper 17 is really good for a 7th grader.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I had 31 still didn't get in engineering school

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you can take up to three times before they start averaging your score

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Libniz wow!! 31! Can u give me some study tips?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what's your weakest subject?

OpenStudy (karatechopper):

Same!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

math :( i got a 24 in math 30 english 8 writing 28 in science 29 in reading

OpenStudy (anonymous):

8 out of 15 right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What's the highest you can get? o.o

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ACT is out of 36

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Like 36 for each subject? Or 26 altogether?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no 12. 2 ppl grade your essay on a scale of 6. both of my graders gave me a 4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How can you get a total of 36 with 5 subjects? o.o

OpenStudy (anonymous):

science was pretty easy when I took it ; you didn't have to know any science , just have to read the graph/chart

OpenStudy (anonymous):

each subject is out of 36 , then they average it for your final score

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh! Okay.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I guess you can improve your math score, get it up close to 30

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Can you take the ACT or SATs online or just in a classroom or schoolroom?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

just in a classroom

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you need it for college admission though

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That's what I thought. Cool. I got so confused in college planner.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

They crammed a ton of stuff into a few months of school. It was like @ . @

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@rebeccaskell94 have u taken any standarized tests?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Haha not since 8th grade. I'm graduating next year. When I took it my scores were in the 9-11th grade levels but I'm scared of the PSAT and SAT. I think I'm going to try to take them this fall.

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

math just takes experience

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if ur a math person u shuld take the ACT instead of the SAT. SAT is more vocab and reading. Im graduating this year and Ive only taken the ACT once. I wish i culd take the PSAT, but since im graduating from high school in 3 years, I lost the opportunity to take it.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm better in language arts/English etc. I suck at math haha I can't remember formulas.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

out of curiosity , did you take any ACT prep course?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Me?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i took an act prep course. I got 2 book included. The Real ACT and Barrons

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think the higher you go in ranks the less they pay attention to your test scores. At some point your score will be no different than any other person applying. I got a 24 over all and I got some pretty good scholarships. It just depends on the school you apply to.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I wanna go to FSU. :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

have you applied yet? @rebeccaskell94

OpenStudy (anonymous):

nooooooo here just like, go to chat.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

**tip--private colleges tend to be generous with scholarship

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Romero what kind of scholarships did you get? and to which college?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Libniz r u in college rite now?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes, I am

OpenStudy (anonymous):

did u get scholarships with ur ACT score?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

University of Illinois no, I didn't even get in engineering program with my ACT score, I had to wait a semester

OpenStudy (anonymous):

university of michigan ann arbor wants female engineers. one of my friends got a 25 on her ACT applied just for the heck of it, and got accepted just because she put engineering down as her major. her gpa wasnt that great either

OpenStudy (anonymous):

females have it too easy

OpenStudy (anonymous):

loll :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so are you thinking about studying engineering

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I applied to a lot of private schools and a couple of public schools but I saw that private schools gave out more money. Then tend to cover most of my cost. There are a lot of good private engineering schools like cal tech and harvey mudd. I got into Bucknell which is a good private school for undergraduate engineering. My friend got accepted to Lehigh. I think the best engineering school that I got accepted to was UCSD.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Any tips for getting into MIT?

OpenStudy (karatechopper):

My prep books were The Real ACT. Helped lots

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Libniz im thinking of studying pharmacy.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

undergraduate for pharmacy is actually pretty easy

OpenStudy (anonymous):

in what way? academic wise or admission wise?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I thought you needed to go to grad school to be a pharmacist

OpenStudy (anonymous):

academic wise; you would either be bio or chem major

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes. I will be a chem major according to my counselor. and @ romero yes pharmacy requires grad school. its just like any medical profession you do a science major, then grad school
