If I'm interested in learning Economics in order to handle a small start-up, what other courses should I take and in what order?
You're most likely best off focusing on microeconomics, mathematical economics and, if available at your university/college - industrial organisation. Other than that some courses in business and management studies would also be beneficial. Wouldn't suggest any particular order - just the natural "do the easier things before moving on to the harder ones" progression to be able to handle the courses.
Economics is great, I would recommend a course in Accounting and Social Psychology.
You do not need to economics inorder to successfully run a start-up, leave alone a small one. Economics is majorly concerned with the forest and what you may need is knowledge about the trees so my advice is that you look into study subjects in areas of proper business record keeping (bookkeeping), research, marketing and advertising amongst others. The most successful entrepreneurs in the planet had no clue what Economics is all about when they set out. Good luck!
