the difference between tension and traction?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

tension is what builds up rapidly when you walk in on your girlfriend having sex with another guy, traction is where you wind up after you try to beat the guy up and wind up in the hospital...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry - in seriousness, tension is a force on an object which is the result of pulling on the object (like a rope) in a manner that should initiate a motion in that direction, while traction will be a force on an object (ie friction) that opposes motion.

the object may not end up in motion - either if tension is balanced in opposite directions, or if traction is greater than tension.
