Question

General announcement for the crowd: The Computer Science group is not for technical support questions. So, to be clear:

Do ask:
- Questions about data structures or algorithms.
- Questions about why code you wrote isn't working.

Don't ask:
- For help with Microsoft Word
- For help getting rid of a virus
- For help jailbreaking your phone.
- For us to write all of your code for you. (That's not what we're here for.)

The general rule of thumb is this: if you would call a customer support hotline or read a manual to get help with your question, then this isn't really the best place to ask it.

— Why not Microsoft Word? That's Computers too, right?
— That is strange. Just for trivia, the first question I ever answered on this site was about hacking. Haha.

Additional question:
— Am I allowed to ask questions related to Microsoft Access?(It's a main step because it involves databases).

Once again, there is a distinction between the academic area of Computer Science and tech support.

So, questions like "What is the difference between a foreign key and a private key?" would be acceptable.

Questions like "How do I create a primary key in Microsoft Access" is borderline.

Questions like "How do I change the font in Microsoft Word?" or "I have a virus! Help me!" are particular to the user's one situation. Not to a concept of Computer Science, and are not acceptable.

@farmdawgnation a suggestion that it should also include in rules list that don't ask for code,just try to write and if u have problem in ur code,u may ask but not ask for full-fledged code.

Muhammad, that rule is assumed given that we don't give out "just answers" on OpenStudy as per the Code of Conduct ( http://openstudy.com/code-of-conduct). But I could add one to this list as well.

if you code using a notpad/word you wouldn't ask abut word/notepad you would ask about the code.

And yes. The kinds of questions I'm looking to avoid are things like "How do I right align text?" Or, "Word won't start how to fix?"
